Collaboration will carry new exhibit to Albright Knox Artwork gallery when it reopens

Yayoi Kusama. Infinity Mirrored Room—My Coronary heart Is Dancing into the Universe will go on show when the Albright Knox reopens

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A collaboration between the the Albright-Knox Artwork Gallery and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Backyard introduced a joint acquisition of the immersive paintings by Yayoi Kusama. Infinity Mirrored Room—My Coronary heart Is Dancing into the Universe.

The exhibit will first debut on the Hirshhorn Museum within the spring, after which will go on show when the Albright Knox completes its enlargement venture and reopens because the Buffalo AKG Artwork Museum.

“The acquisition of Infinity Mirrored Room—My Coronary heart Is Dancing into the Universe builds on the art-historical legacy of the Hirshhorn’s 2017 blockbuster presentation Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirror Rooms, which launched the artist’s spellbinding artworks to file audiences throughout North America,” stated Melissa Chiu Hirshhorn Director. “Our forthcoming exhibition locations this current work within the context of her early portray, sculptures and groundbreaking immersive work. We’re grateful to companion with the Albright-Knox to carry this work to view on the Nationwide Mall as we celebr,ate our reopening.” 

Albright Knox Artwork Gallery Director Janne Sirén stated, “We’re delighted to companion with the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Backyard in buying this extraordinary work by Yayoi Kusama. We plan to debut this landmark set up in Western New York quickly after our museum reopens following the completion of our campus improvement and enlargement venture. The Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors exhibit is in style with artwork lovers.  When it first debuted within the Hirshhorn, it introduced in 160,000 guests to that exhibit.

The artist, Yayoi Kusama was born in Nagano, Japan in 1929.  She continues to producer work in her studio in Tokyo.
